Artist Statement

I am a multi-media artist inspired by relationships and the emotions that stem from them. I want to give a visual language to those feelings.

I believe my interest in relationships results from being an identical twin and how that forced me to deal with a relationship long before I had any understanding of one. As a twin I have also learned that though things appear to be the same, upon closer inspection they are typically quite different. I use multiples in my work to examine and/ or emphasize this dichotomy.
There is seldom music playing in my studio as the silence allows me to hear the running dialog going on in my head. I hear the words but see the image. And that is how each body of work begins.

As ideas take shape I follow the thread, letting it lead me where it may. I use a variety of material and forms, understanding that even though their content is similar, as my twin is to me, each piece will have a voice of its own.
